    I guess the intention is to write about neural code in the stricter sense, i.e. the code (if any) of action potentials. However, many neurons (like those that I normally work with) do not use action potentials, but graded potentials. In the sensory cells their "code" is almost trivial, if we ignore log-compression and adaptation, but in graded potential interneurons the coding problem is real.
