I think this paper is well thought out and well designed.  I found it very informative.

Figure 2 should have t_1[n+1] in it.  Not essential, but for completeness.

You say in the description: "coupling can be described as an effect multiplied by a delta function."
Is it multiplied or convolved?  I defer to your expertise.

This article is clear and well written.  I found only one typo, which I corrected in the article itself.

I have one general comment.  The historical treatment near the beginning is excellent.  It would be helpful to reference some of the classic work from Ermentrout, Kopell, and others on the subject of mutually coupled cells.  A few more references of this kind would make the article and bibliography a more broadly useful resource.
