Dr. Søren Bertil F. Dorch
University of Copenhagen and The Royal Library, Denmark, Copenhagen, Denmark
Since 2013 I am library director at University of Southern Denmark (SDU), President of the Danish Research Library Association, and board member of the Evidence-Based Research Network (EBRN), the European library organization (LIBER), and Denmark's Electronic Research Library.
My research subjects are within astrophysics, magneto-hydrodynamical theory and numerical computer simulations. Overall topics are cosmic magnetic fields and stellar dynamo action. Besides that, I am researching on general topics within the field of scholarly communication, e.g. scholarly publishing, data management etc.
I received my Master's in astronomy (1995) and my Ph.D. in physics (1998), both from The Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen. Among other things I have e.g. been a fellow at the Solar Physics Institute of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (1999-2001), associate professor (2002-2005) and honorary associate professor in Computational Astrophysics at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen (2006-2011).
I also do popular science outreach and I am a huge fan of Star Trek and scifi (former Editor of the Danish Star Trek fanzine Subspace), and have given several talks on the physics of Star Trek, on science versus science fiction, and have appeared on national TV programs on science.
