When pictures are presented in a rapid sequence, you have the impression that you understand each one, but you will forget many of them almost immediately. However, if you are looking for a specified picture, you will usually be able to spot it, supporting the idea that you did indeed understand all the pictures as they were presented (Potter, 1976).
