I'm currently investigating the expression of electrical synapses in the spinal cord of developing opossum Monodelphis domestica, a model for motor systems development. Using antibodies against gap junction protein Cx36, I'm mapping large neuronal gap junctions in cervical and lumbar enlargements of spinal cord. These maps are currently analyzed and interpreted with other developmental processes such as synaptogenesis, timecourse of spontaneous activity and ontogenesis of motor behavior.
