Uriel Frisch received his Licence de Mathématiques Appliquées in 1962, Docteur 3ème Cycle in 1964 and his Ph.D. in 1967 from University of Paris, after which he stayed at CNRS. Today he is the Research Director Emeritus.

Dr. Frisch has received numerous honors and awards for his research. He received Prix Bazin (Académie des Sciences) for work on turbulence in 1985, Chevalier Ordre National du Mérite in 1994. He was the Recipient Lewis Fry Richardson medal of Eur. Geophys. Soc. in 2003 and elected as Member French Academy of Sciences in 2008.

Dr. Frisch is perhaps best known for his research on turbulence. His book Turbulence; the Legacy of A.N. Kolmogorov at 1995 is a classical book in the field of turbulence. For more information, visit http://www.oca.eu/uriel.
